Wales U 20 v Italy U 20 – Rugby International at Parc Eirias, Colwyn Bay
Wales v Italy under 20 International Rugby at Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay enjoyed another sell out crowd. It was a great success both for Welsh Rugby and the North Wales tourist trade.
After only 6 minutes of play Calibrese of Italy opened the score from a set piece with a fine try which was converted to make it 7 points in 7 minutes for Italy.
This quickly moved to 10 points in 10 minutes for Italy.
But Wales fought back to make it 7-10 to Italy, and with 10 minutes of first half remaining Wales and Italy were locked at 10 all.
But with 5 minutes to half time Italy scored their second try, which was converted to make it 10-17 to Italy with 3 minutes to half time.
A penalty kick from Wales however took the score to 13-17 at half time with the Italian number 1 sent to the sinbin.
In the second half the game got stuck in the doldrums with several scrums in mid field and by the 60th minute the Italians were leading 16-20.
But Wales fought back to take the lead, but this was short lived as the Italians pulled even at 23 all by the 68th minute.
Game on!
But then Wales found a second wind , while the Italians seemed to tire with several Italians going down with cramp. The superior fitness of the Welsh made the difference and by the final whistle Wales held on to win 30- 23.

Hotels, including the Bryn Holcombe, were reported as fully booked with visitors staying in hotels as far away as Bangor and Flint.
Rugby supporters however who stayed at the Bryn Holcombe took only 5 minutes to travel to the game, with the Bryn Holcombe being just a mile from Parc Eirias.
